In 1979, Yuan Geng, former Executive Vice Chairman of China Merchants Group and
Founder of the China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone,
proposed to "build Shekou into the most suitable home for human living".
Since then, the green and low-carbon concept is deeply rooted in the corporate gene of CMSK.

For more than 40 years,
CMSK has always adhered to the idea of people orientation and energy efficiency improvement,
and incorporated the concept of sustainable development into corporate vision and mission,
making it an inseparable and important part of the corporate value,
and creating more and better integrated economic, social and
environmental values for shareholders and other stakeholders.

The sustainability strategy of CMSK (the "122353 Strategy" ) is
based on the vision of "Leading Sustainable Value Creator in China" and the mission of
"Creating a Better Life and Establishing a Sustainable Business"
to build two core competitiveness of sustainability, namely,
"Green and Low Carbon Buildings" and "Extraordinary Products and Services",
and achieve the milestones of "2025-2030-2050".
By deeply integrating the 122353 Strategy with SDGs and the five practice principles of
"Carrier of Green Development", "Carrier of Better Life", "Carrier of Transformation and
Innovation", "Carrier of Harmonious Community and Cultural Prosperity" and "Carrier of Integrity and Honesty",
CMSK promotes the achievement of the three primary tasks, namely "ESG Management",
"ESG Disclosure" and "ESG Performance".

CMSK Sustainability (ESG) Policies, which was reviewed and approved by the third session
of the Board of Directors, covers important and substantive ESG topics of the Company, and
consists of sub-policies,
such as the Health and Safety Policy (HSE Policy), the Business Ethics Policy, the
Sustainable Development Policy, the Green Operations Policy, the Biodiversity Conservation
Policy, the Customer Rights Protection Policy, the Employee Rights Protection Policy, and
the Supply Chain Policy.
Some sub-policies are also applicable to other stakeholders (suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders).
